Thanks for correcting me, I really didn't know what the hell I was saying, because I missed the beatnik movement. I was born in 1967. I am not clueless though, my music collection is outright wicked! lol, It spans decades and decades,

Well, actually the real Beats didn't even like folk music, and they weren't into long hair either. Peter, Paul and Mary sort of blurred the lines by affecting a Beat appearance, but the true Beats were usually clean-cut (with goatees at times) and tended toward bebop or "cool" jazz a la Miles Davis. And the old Beats were not fans of the emerging hippie movement.

Just reading Colin Harper's brilliant bio of Bert called "Dazzling Stranger". Buy it or steal it!! Some of the stories about Bert's early days in Auld Reekie are hysterical.
