It's the riff from Iron Butterfly's In-a-Gadda-da-Vida, their smashing hit of 1968, the turning point of psychedelic rock that actually started heavy metal (although some hold that the real "start" of heavy metal was The Beatles' "Helter Skelter").It is immensely known, and obviously Michael was joking on it, pretending his hand had gone and played it on its own accord.
